The Image Magazine Business of Beauty Awards 2016

main image

Hi Everyone,

Today I’m taking it easy after a busy and eventful weekend.

I had scheduled to do some book work today – we’re still going through the layouts and I’ve still some work to finish on it but Ollie isn’t well. He has a bug, the poor thing has gotten a fright getting sick so I’m just resting with him. He’s asleep on top of me at the moment so I’m taking the few minutes to write this.

Last night I attended the Image Business of Beauty Awards in the Double Tree, Hilton Hotel. It was a very glam night with over 500 men and women in attendance.

It was the first year the magazine introduced the category I was nominated in ‘Best Beauty Blogger’ – some of the other categories are ‘Best Hairdresser’, ‘Best Make Up Artist’ ‘Best Beauty Innovator’ among lots of others. So it’s a really important night for everyone in the beauty industry. It’s brilliant to see people and businesses getting recognition for all of their hard work.

I was over the moon to win Best Beauty Blogger. We try to do a good mixture of everything on pippa.ie so I’m just so happy you’re all enjoying things enough to have voted for us, so thank you thank you so so much. It means so much to me. It’s so encouraging and gives me a great little boost to keep going!

Huge congratulations to all of the other winners last night and of course to all of the nominees. Each and every one were deserving. A big thanks and congratulations to Image Magazine for putting on such a brilliant night.

Niamh and I joined Ellen Kavanagh’s table (owner of Waxperts) and the rest of her lovely team. We had a really great night, I love catching up with everyone and looking at all the style! There was some really beautiful dresses.

I didn’t end up wearing a full length- I just felt more comfortable in the dress I wore. Although it was very figure hugging the material was really comfortable, and at this stage of pregnancy comfort is seriously key!

In my typical laidback form I had nothing to wear up until last week, I ordered the dress last Tuesday and it arrived on Friday.

It’s from the ASOS Maternity range and I thought it was simple and elegant, not to mention an absolute bargain at only €49!

I’ve literally just checked and it’s nearly gone in all sizes now… But ASOS are great at re-stocking items, so if you can’t get your size now check everyday from tomorrow. You can see it here.

Although it’s maternity there’s nothing specifically designed for your bump, it’s just stretchy so it would easily work if you weren’t pregnant either. (FYI it’s a generous fit)

For underwear (let’s be honest, very important in a tight dress like this especially when you’re pregnant!) I bought a black strapless bra in M&S to wear with it and black silky boxer type shorts with no VPL.

Because the dress was pretty plain I decided to add a pop of colour with my shoes, I wore my bright orange Louboutins with gold studs, I really love these and the bonus is they’re actually comfortable! As beautiful as his shoe designs are most are not comfortable in my experience. When you’re paying those sort of high prices it’s nice to not be crippled!! I’ve taken a pic of the box with the details for anyone that wants to know.

IMG_6452For jewellery I wore my Stella & Dot gold cuff and some hoop shaped earrings from River Island that were only €10 (see here)! I love these, they’ll be cool with any casual outfit too, like jeans and a nice white shirt.

My friend David Cashman did my hair, he works in Reds hair salon on Dawson Street – he’s brilliant.
