Summer Sun Care Essentials

I’m going away with my family next week so I’ve been getting my sun products and after sun products together.

It’s important obviously to use a high SPF all the time. Yes, even in Ireland when the sun isn’t shining.

I got a facial peel done recently and I was chatting to the therapist about sun exposure and the damage it can do. I knew this already but she reminded just how important it is. Sun damage is not only extremely dangerous but it’s so aging too. So using good products with a high SPF is absolutely essential to me.

I’ve put together a list of what I’ve used previously and what I plan to take with me on holidays.

FACE:

Murad Luminous Shield (Buy here)

This is a new product I’m yet to use but after reading some excellent reviews I wanted to get it for my holidays. It’s their newest SPF product that hydrates and protects. It has an SPF 50. When I tested this it felt very soft and left a gorgeous luminous veil on my skin.

Murad Invisible Perfecting Shield SPF 30 (Buy here)

I used this last year and loved it. This is a transparent gel texture. It blurs any pores and acts as a good primer.

NUXE SPF 50 (Buy here)

Helps prevent dark spots

FACE & BODY:

Bioderma – Photoderm Bronz SPF 50 (Buy here)

This dry oil can be applied to wet or dry skin. I personally love an oil SPF for my body while away on holidays as it goes on easily without having to rub any white cream in. This one is water resistant and ideal for sensitive skin. It can be used on the face and hair also.

Bioderma – Photoderm Max SPF 50 (Buy here)

This very high protection cream for the face is tinted, which is perfect for those who want a little colour and coverage. The 40 ml little bottle is the ideal size for traveling.

HAIR:

NUXE Moisturising Protective Milky Oil For Hair (Buy here)

It can be easy to forget about our hair and scalp while in the sun. This spray by NUXE provides multi-protection against UV, salt and chlorine. It’ll protect your colour also while keeping the hair hydrated.

AFTER-SUN:

NUXE Shower Oil (Buy here)

This is a beautifully scented body cleanser to use in shower – it has a golden shimmer going through it, and although this isn’t a sun product it just reminds me of summer with the shimmer and fresh delicate fragrance. You’ll step out of the shower with the softest satin finish on your body.

NUXE After-Sun Hair & Body Shampoo (Buy here)

This is the perfect duo product for your holidays for cleansing the hair and body in one. It removes UV sunscreens, salt, sand and chlorine. It’s paraben and sulfate free. The skin is left soft and is lightweight and shiny. This one is definitely coming away with me.

NUXE After-Sun Lotion for Face and Body (Buy here)

This is a lightweight cream that easily and quickly absorbs into the skin. It’s lightweight and like all of the NUXE products it has a gorgeous distinct fresh smell. It repairs and soothes the skin after sun exposure. A great duo product again as it can be used on the face and body. This is the type of product your other half will rob because of its convenience!!

GRADUAL TANS

While I’m away I like to use a body moisturiser with a gradual tan in it. Over a couple of days this will build up to a light subtle glow. It’s brilliant for enhancing a natural tan too. There are so many on the market at the moment.

One of my picks is Soleil Bronzer by Lancôme, you can’t go wrong with Lancôme in general. All of their products are excellent quality. The other is a more affordable alternative that you can pick up in most supermarkets – it’s the Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived lotion.
