HOW TO: Dress For Your Body Shape – Hourglass

Hi everyone!
We’re back again with our latest instalment of How To Dress for Your Body Shape, and today it’s all about what is probably the most iconic body shape – The Hourglass.
If you have that Marilyn Monroe-esque figure, count yourself lucky. Having an hourglass figure means you’re well proportioned on top and bottom and have a defined waist. The widest part of your hips is generally the same width as your shoulders.
It’s important to really accentuate your curves if you’re an hourglass – That means showing off that killer waist and being confident.
If you’ve got it, flaunt it girls! 😉
To accentuate your voluptuous figure:
Choose clothes that follow the natural curves of your body shape, instead of hiding it.
Add a belt to dresses and tops to show off your waist, flattering your shape.
Peplum tops are brilliant as they gently skim over your hips and create the perfect silhouette.
Try to keep the top half of your outfit simple with an open neckline (v neck, scoop etc) as it elongates your look.
A-line and pencil skirts hug your curves in all the right places and look fab with a fitted top or tee tucked in.
Best to avoid:
Oversized/baggy tops, coats and dresses can make you look bigger than you are – it’s best to take advantage of your curves and show them off!
High necklines can cause the look of an imbalance in your figure.
Famous Hourglass celebs include:
Marilyn Monroe
Scarlett Johansson
Kelly Brook
Kate Winslet
Salma Hayek
