Autumn/Winter Wardrobe Series: Winter Coats

main image

When it comes to Winter dressing, my favourite item of clothing would have to be a coat.

I just love a beautiful coat. A good coat makes me feel wonderful. Depending on the style, a coat can make you feel womanly and definitely quite powerful 😉 It can set my whole mood for that day.

I think it’s good to have a couple of different types of coats in your wardrobe.

Here’s 5 favourites. Which do you like and what coat makes you feel good?

Much love,

Pippa x

1. The classic dark well-fitted coat.

Something like this will take you anywhere. This is a coat you’d invest in and wear for years. It’s elegant and timeless.

I love this black double-breasted coat from ASOS because it’s a piece that will last a very long time and will go with essentially any outfit, be it casual or dressy. The large lapels on this coat give it a bit of a twist, which I really like.

2. The Mac Coat.

I’ve been searching for the perfect Mac in this colour for quite some time.

I can’t tell you how happy I am with this one. I really love it. It’s the most perfect fit. It’s so flattering on and I think it’s really chic.

It’s excellent value too as I really think it looks twice the price. You put this on and instantly think ‘Yes! I feel good now.’ Buy here.

How smart is a white shirt under a mac? I particularly love this one I got with a gem stone embellished collar – you can get it here.

3. The Laid Back Parka

This is another one of my own coats that I invested in for this winter (and probably for many winters to come)

I got this because it’s quite heavy and really comfortable. It’ll be perfect on cold and frosty mornings when I leave the house early. It looks good enough to wear into town but I’ll probably wear it going for walks and just on any normal day. It’s an all rounder coat. I love the hood and black leather detail on the sleeves. The colour is a nice alternative to the classic green parka.

4. The Boyfriend Coat

The ‘boyfriend’ trend in fashion has become huge this year between boyfriend jeans, boyfriend blazers and now the boyfriend coat has reared its beautiful head for this autumn/winter. This style of coat is incredibly cosy as it’s quite oversized and slouchy.

This lilac one from Topshop is beautiful, adding a pretty pop of colour to those dull winter days. It’d look amazing with skinny jeans and boots or would also look fab on a night out.

5. The Fashion Forward Funnel Neck Coat

One of the most fashion forward coats this season has to be the funnel neck coat. Not only does it keep your neck warm, it also elongates you silhouette – Win win!

I reckon this New Look version is very Victoria Beckham-esque. Its colour is also winter perfect – no other colour screams autumn/winter louder to me than burgundy. It’s such a classic winter hue that flatters any skin tone.
