24 Hours in London

Hi Everyone,
Last Wednesday I went to London with my hubby for an overnight stay. It was mainly pleasure – which is always nice! Mixed with a small bit of business
We stayed in Ham Yard Hotel. It’s one of favourite hotels in London, located in Soho. It’s about 2 years old so still very new. It’s owned by the Soho Hotel, which is fabulous too.
I’ve been to Ham Yard plenty of times for cocktails (they do the best appletinis!) but I’d never stayed there before so I was really looking forward to it. The bedroom was absolutely stunning, the decor was mainly grey (my fave). It was really modern but luxurious.
On Wednesday afternoon we went to Harrods. I wanted to go there for the Christmas atmosphere more than anything. Plus Harrods just reminds me so much of my Mum. I’ll never forget her bringing me there when I was 8. I’d never seen a toy department like. It’s still pretty spectacular and hard to beat.

We had lunch in the food hall at the Rotisserie bar. The chickens are freshly cooked in front of you and are absolutely delicious.
After that I had a quick look through women’s wear. I hadn’t intended to buy any clothes here but I came across their maternity section called A Pea in The Pod. They stock some lovely brands like Rachel Zoe and 7 For All Mankind. I really wanted a pair of the leather look jeans by 7 For All Mankind but they hadn’t my size in stock. They were so gorgeous and amazing quality. So I’m trying to find them online now.
I did buy a jacket in the maternity section though. It’s by Blank NYC… It has leather sleeves and waterfall effect at the front. It was pretty pricey at £200. I wouldn’t usually dream of spending that much on a maternity item but I just loved that this was real leather and so stylish. I’m remembering how hard it was to find maternity clothes the last time. Why oh why are they designed as if all pregnant women are ancient with no interest in style!
Back to the jacket though, I know I’ll wear this day and night for the foreseeable future. Plus I’ll wear it after baby too. It’s cleverly designed that it’ll just hang and still look perfect.
The picture here doesn’t really do it justice but it’s gorgeous in person.
I’ll go through my other maternity purchases (mainly from Topshop) in my pregnancy post on Monday.
I also bought a Tom Ford lipstick that I’ve had my eye on for a while. It’s called Nude Vanille and it’s so so gorgeous. The perfect nude! It’s quite nude though so I think I’ll only wear when I’m tanned. It would be beautiful for brides too. I wore it that night and it felt beautiful , it lasted all evening through dinner.
I packed very lightly when it came to make up. Usually I really over-pack when it comes to make up, I never know what I’ll need/want. Now that I have my palette though it really cuts down on so much. I know I’m bias but it really is brilliant. I love that it has my favourite shadows, a contour shade, a blush and of course, my favourite highlighter of all time.
For foundation I brought my Charlotte Tilbury (shade 5) it’s really lovely.
A few people asked me which tan I was wearing – it was Vita Liberata dark tanning lotion. It’s gorgeous. I applied it on Tuesday and it still looks perfect.
On Wednesday night we went to a restaurant called Bob Bob Ricard. It’s famous for its ‘press here for champagne’ buttons at every table, which is totally up my ally but obviously this time that was totally wasted on me 😉 we really enjoyed the food though. We both had steak followed by an amazing Eton mess for dessert. Needless to say I was fit to be rolled out after that.
On Thursday we went for a late breakfast/brunch in Bills, which is in Soho too. I ordered the pancakes (standard) they came with all the trimmings and I ate every bit… Which was embarrassing as I told the waitress when she put them down “Oh I’ll never get through those, the size of them” 😉
After a work meeting there was just about enough time to hit Topshop on Oxford Street before catching our flight home. Topshop there is so impressive, it’s massive with the biggest and best selection. Check back in with me on Monday to see what I bought… It includes some seriously amazing boots!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I’m still trying to get rid of an annoying cold.
Lots of love
