Hair loss

Hi Pippa,

Loving your new site. Just a question, I had a miscarriage recently and with the past 12 weeks have been shedding hair, I know this is normal for most women after child birth. But its gone to the stage now where I feel it will never end! I started taking Viviscal supplements 6 weeks ago, my hair & skin has really improved but no difference in hair yet. I know the Viviscal website states it can take up to 12 weeks for them to work.
Have you any info on Viviscal or post partum shedding?

Regards Paula.

Hi Paula,

Firstly I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

It’s funny you should ask me this because I’m facing the exact same problem at the moment.
I thought if I hadn’t lost any hair within the first 3months after giving birth that I wouldn’t, but around 4 weeks ago now I’ve been noticing my hair shedding so much. Every time I brush it so much comes away with the brush.

I know some of my friends only lost theirs around the front of the hair line, mine doesn’t appear to be coming away from there, just every where in general.

I’ve also started taking Viviscal nearly 2 weeks ago (I couldn’t take it sooner while breast feeding) I have heard great reports about Viviscal, I think definitely keep taking them to see improvements.
It will get back to normal, unfortunately it will just take time from what I’ve read.

Also what might be a help to you is a shampoo & conditioner called Nioxin, I started to use this while I was still pregnant. It’s sold in Peter Mark.

It offers a great and unique cleaning and conditioning formula that is meant to improve the overall condition of your scalp and hair, resulting in thicker hair that has a lot of body and life.

I definitely noticed a huge difference in the thickness of my hair after a few weeks of using Nioxin.

I hope this is a help to you Paula.
Wishing you all the best for the future.

Love Pippa x
